In 2007 I began a series of works called “forest lines”. These images came from my experience of following the news with a desire to express my concern for and bring attention to an ecological view of how our planned structures impose on our environment. There are several symbols used: trees, skies, historic and modern structures. Over the years with my partner Susan did a lot of kayaking in Ontario and I would take photos of trees and sometimes buildings. These images and historic structures were altered and digitally transferred to the canvases. As ideas and visuals evolved and I created new sections in the series shown by the logos below. I continue to add to the series. I have published this series in a catalogue, (see “eco balance” catalogue on the home page).
